COURSE DESCRIPTION

Throughout this course, you will be provided with information about vicarious trauma and other related disorders. You will learn how to recognise a variety of disorders and the impact that these can have on workers in the Health and Social Care field.

You will also learn about a variety of self-care techniques which can help lessen the impact of vicarious trauma and the other related disorders.

In order to complete the course, you must achieve 80% or more in the final multiple choice quiz.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Gain an understand around vicarious trauma, including who is at risk and signs, symptoms and responses.
  • Understand the differences between vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, counter-transference, secondary traumatic stress disorder, work-related stress and burnout.
  • Gain an understanding of burnout and work related stress, and how to recognise indicators and impacts including those working from home.
  • Recognise boundaries and identify coping strategies.
  • Increase your understanding of how to practice self-care and seek support.
